A scaled-down Shamrock Invite takes on a different format this year, as the timed finals meet will see a total of six sessions over three days. The men swam morning and afternoon sessions yesterday, then wrapped up with a morning session today, and then women will swim this afternoon and tomorrow. UNC-Wilmington has picked up NOVA of Virginia’s Aidan Duffy for next fall. Duffy is a senior at Freeman High School. I chose UNC-Wilmington because of the excitement I felt on campus! The athletics, the academics, and the atmosphere is exactly what I have been looking for! Bobby Guntoro and this team have a bright future! And I wanted to be a part of that! The first full night of finals from the 2020 Pro Swim Series in Des Moines, Iowa is set to get underway, with the 100 free, 100 breast, 200 fly and 400 free on the docket. In this morning’s prelims , the standout swim came from Hali Flickinger, who lowered her #1 time in the world this year in the women’s 200 fly down from 2:07.65 to 2:06.78. Flickinger will have a great shot tonight to break the eight-year-old PSS Record of 2:06.76 set by Cammile Adams in 2012.

The Bentonville High School girls and Conway High School boys earned victories at the 2020 Arkansas High School 6A State Championships. On the boys’ side, the battle for runner-up came down to the wire, as Central High School took 2nd with just 7 points over Bentonville High School. Conway’s Ty Wingfield swept the sprints en route to their team title.

The 2020 Oregon 6A State Swimming Championships took place on Saturday, Feb. 22 at the Tualatin Aquatics Center in Beaverton, Ore. Aloha senior Kaitlyn Dobler stole the show after she broke the overall National High School record in the 100 breast with a jaw-dropping 58.35, which also crushed her own Class 6A and Oregon state record.

Kaitlyn Dobler has broken the National Public High School record – as well as the overall National High School mark – in the 100 breast at the Oregon 6A State Championships.
While representing Aloha High School at the state meet hosted by Tualatin Hills Aquatic Center on Feb. 22, Dobler blasted a time of 58.35 during finals of the 100 breast to etch her name into the history books.
