Jan. 20, 2021 — The annual Flanders Swimming Cup has transitioned into the Flanders Qualification Meet for this 2021 calendar year. Set for Antwerp, Belgium on Saturday, January 23rd, and Sunday, January 24th, this Flanders Qualification meet will serve as a FINA-sanctioned qualification meet for the postponed 2020 Olympic Games. The event is open for domestic swimmers able to train during the current coronavirus lockdown, as well as visiting foreign swimmers. Jan. 19, 2021 — Stanford redshirt senior Grant Shoults posted a thread to Twitter over the weekend , detailing the physical and mental recovery processs after his second shoulder surgery since 2019. Shoults, who has been quiet on social media for a while, had surgery in July 2020 on his left shoulder to repair a damaged labrum; it’s his second surgery since starting at Stanford, following labrum surgery on his right shoulder in January 2019. One of the stars of the meet was 15-year-old Edie Simecek who was the only swimmer to represent Flatiron Swimming and made the most of her weekend, picking up 6 top-3 finishes including 4 victories in the 100 back, 100 fly, 200 fly, and 100 free.
