The UNC Asheville swimming and diving team picked up a 274.5-207.5 victory over Georgia Southern on Sunday afternoon. Over the course of the last two days, the Bulldogs won 14 of the 26 events. Jaka Pušnik from the Slovenian capital of Ljubljana has announced his verbal commitment to Florida State University for 2022-23. Born in 2003, Pusnik swims for PK Olimpija Ljubljana and represents Slovenia in international competition. Last summer he was a finalist in the 200 free at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Baku. He finished 8th with 1:53.76. Since then he has dropped 2.1 seconds in the 200, his strongest event. He also competed in the 400 free and 200 back.

Cal’s Abbey Weitzeil, the reigning NCAA Champion, made history this season as the first woman to break 21 in the 50 free. Weitzeil turned in a 20.90 at the Minnesota Invite, breaking the American and NCAA Record. At the 2020 Pac-12 Championships, Weitzeil took down the Pac-12 Meet Record in 21.03, but hyper-extended her arm on the finish, causing her to scratch the rest of the meet.
