The University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn., has been approved by the NCAA to transition from Division III to Division I . While we’ve seen programs (UCSD, for example) make the switch from Division II to Division I , this will be the first transition from Division III in modern history. St. Thomas will become the first private D-I university in the state of Minnesota, and the second D-I school overall, joining the University of Minnesota. The University of California-San Diego has landed a verbal commitment from Lexi DePaco for the 2021-2022 season. DePaco made the following statement about her decision, DePaco is in her junior year at San Ramon Valley High School. As a freshman, she swam the 50 free and the 100 fly at the CA CIF North Coast Section Championships, finishing 2 and 4 , respectively.
