The 2020 CSCAA National Invitational Championship, a meet designed to bring together the best non-NCAA qualifiers in the country, is set to kick off on Thursday from Cleveland State University. This is the fifth edition of the meet, and the second straight hosted at CSU. The University of Akron has received a verbal commitment from Grace Nuhfer for its class of 2025. She is a year-round swimmer at Greenwood Gators Inc. and she is in her final year at Greenwood Community High School. Nuhfer is a senior at Greenwood Community High School. During her junior season, she competed at the Franklin Community Indiana HS Sectional Championships. Abby Daniel of Bristow, Virginia has announced her verbal commitment to join the University of Akron’s women’s swimming and diving team after she graduates from high school in the spring of 2021. Daniel swims for Occoquan Swimming Inc. and attends Patriot High School. Daniel is very versatile, with the potential to help the Zips in multiple events after she arrives on campus next fall. The No. 23-ranked University of Akron captured its sixth consecutive Mid-American Conference Championships Saturday at the Ocasek Natatorium. The Zips scored 867 points, breaking their own record of 827.5, in the eight-team field. Eastern Michigan was second (583) and Buffalo third (502).

Akron continues to lead the team race through the 2nd day of competition, taking the 200 IM and 200 free relay. Akron sophomore Sarah Watson defended her title in the 200 IM, swimming a 1:57.65. Watson won the event with a 1:57.33 last year, which still stands as her personal best.
