Charlotte Hooks Hits 2:09 200 Fly, Justin Ress Swims 53.8 100 Back at Speedo Sectionals Cary

March 8, 2020 — The 2020 Speedo Sectionals Cary continued Saturday from North Carolina as some of the Tar Heel State’s best performed some solid in-season times on Saturday night. 16-year-old Charlotte Hook of the TAC Titans was a two-time winner with an impressive 2:09.55 in the 200 butterfly to start the night. Hook is a rising star in the United States and should be a big factor for the national team in a couple of years. She also won the 400 freestyle to end the night with a 4:18.41, just ahead of 15-year-old Morgan Razewski (4:19.75) of Swim MAC Carolina.

Gretchen Walsh Pops 21.50 50 FR to Become #3 All-Time 17-18 at Southern Premier

March 8, 2020 — There were quite a few highlight swims in Atlanta on Saturday, which featured some of the nation’a top junior swimmers. Nashville Aquatic Club’s Gretchen Walsh put up a lifetime best in the 50 free on night 2 of the 2020 Southern Premier. Walsh raced to a 21.50, taking 9 hundredths off her best from the TISCA Championships last month. Walsh, 17, has now moved ahead of Kate Douglass as the 3rd fastest ever in the 17-18 age group.

Curzan Drops Lifetime Best 25.3 50 Free on Day 3 of Cary Sectionals

March 8, 2020 — The 2020 Cary Sectionals continued on Saturday in North Carolina. Tac Titan’s Claire Curzan posted a 22.44 to lead the 50 free heats. Curzan then swam to a best time in long course. She won the final in 25.33, knocking 2 tenths off her former best from 2018. Curzan, a 15-year-old, now ranks #13 all-time among U.S. 15-16 age group.

Nasvhille Aquatic Club Breaks 17-18 National Age Group Record in 200 Free Relay

March 7, 2020 — A quartet of swimmers from the Nasvhille Aquatic Club broke the 17-18 National Age Group Record in the 200 yard free relay on Friday. Swimming at the elite Southern Premier Meet in Atlanta, Georgia, the group of Alex Walsh , Alex Massey , Lauren Hurt , and Gretchen Walsh combined for a 1:29.69. That swim undercuts the old record of 1:30.09 that was set by SwimMAC Carolina in 2015.

Claire Curzan Swims Solid 58.0 100 Fly LCM on Friday Night of Speedo Sectionals Cary

March 7, 2020 — On the same night that 17-year-old broke the national age group record in the 17-18 age group with a 57.3, 15-year-old Claire Curzan swam an impressive 58.00 at the Speedo Sectionals Cary meet in North Carolina. Curzan is second all-time in the 15-16 age group behind Torri Huske , who was a 57.48 in December. Curzan’s best is a 57.8 and she has been dubbed as a swimmer to watch out for in the next couple of years. Curzan of the TAC Titans also won the 200 freestyle minutes earlier with a 2:02.27.

Alia Atkinson Swims 1:09 LCM 100 Breast on Day Two of Speedo Sectionals Plantation

March 7, 2020 — Four-time Jamaican Olympian Alia Atkinson won the 100 breaststroke on Friday night at the 2020 Speedo Sectionals Plantation in Florida as the 31-year-old swam a 1:09.36 to win by three seconds. She was faster in the morning at 1:08.99.
