Christian Sadie came close to earning Team SA’s fifth medal of the World Para Swimming Championships on Thursday night in Madeira, Portugal, but had to settle for a fourth place finish in the men’s S7 50m butterfly. However both he and Kat Swanepoel – both of whom have won two medals this week – set more personal bests and records as their golden form continued. And Cornelle Leach, despite missing out on a place in her final, also established another African record.

There were two fourth place finishes in finals on a day when all three Team SA swimmers in action broke South African and African records at the 2022 World Para Swimming Championships in Madeira, Portugal. The event kicked off yesterday and runs until 18 June.
