Australia created a world record in women's 800 freestyle relay in the pool on Sunday even as 28 medals events were held on day 3 of the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham. Madison Wilson, Kiah Melverton, Mollie OCallaghan and Ariarne Titmus recorded 7:39.29 to claim the gold medal and break the world record of 7:40.33 set by China in the Tokyo Olympics. Aussies also continued to lead the tally with 52 medals (22 gold, 13 silver and 17 bronze). England are second with 34, while New Zealand are third with 19.

BIRMINGHAM, United Kingdom Canada's Maggie Mac Neil added another victory to her illustrious swimming resume. The Olympic and world champion won the women's 100-metre butterfly on Saturday at the Commonwealth Games, while Nicolas-Guy Turbide raced to gold in the Para 50 freestyle. Mac Neil, a 22-year-old from London, Ont., raced to a Games record of 56.36 seconds, edging Australia's Emma McKeon (56.38).
