TEAMSA.CO.ZA
June 16, 2022 — Christian Sadie came close to earning Team SA’s fifth medal of the World Para Swimming Championships on Thursday night in Madeira, Portugal, but had to settle for a fourth place finish in the men’s S7 50m butterfly. However both he and Kat Swanepoel – both of whom have won two medals this week – set more personal bests and records as their golden form continued. And Cornelle Leach, despite missing out on a place in her final, also established another African record.

June 12, 2022 — Alani Ferreira was the first Team SA swimmer in the water at the 2022 World Para Swimming Championships in Madeira, Portugal, and she produced a personal best at her first attempt. Shortly afterwards, Kat Swanepoel shattered the South African and African record in the women’s SB3 50m breaststroke, finishing third in her heat in 1:00.98. That was nearly seven seconds faster than her qualifying entry time of 1:07.25, which was a remarkable improvement.
