Jan. 17, 2021 — The Virginia men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams defeated Virginia Tech on Saturday as the Cavalier swimmers closed the two-day meet against the Hokies at the Aquatic and Fitness Center. The No. 2 Virginia women’s swimming and diving team defeated No. 15 Virginia Tech 202.5-96.5, while the No. 10 Cavalier men’s team defeated the No. 15 Hokies 161-137. The Cavaliers won 23 events throughout the day, including sweeping both relay events. Eight different female swimmers and five male swimmers won an individual event at the competition. Matt Brownstead Breaks Caeleb Dressel’s National HS Record with 19.24 50 Free

March 12, 2020 PENNSYLVANIA — Matt Brownstead took down Caeleb Dressel’s National Public and Overall High School record at the Pennsylvania 3A State Championships. The meet was held at Bucknell University’s Kinney Natatorium in Lewisburg, Pa. Representing State College Area High School, the senior blasted a 19.24 during finals of the 50 free to clinch the state title. His time eclipsed Dressel’s previous mark of 19.29 that was set in 2013 when he was a senior at Clay High School.
