The final night from the San Antonio Pro Swim should be another exciting one — though there will be a few sparsely populated heats. World record holder Regan Smith has scratched out of the women’s 200 back, as has Emma Weyant , leaving just six swimmers in that event tonight. World record-holder Regan Smith from Riptide scratched the 200 back final after placing 3rd in prelims this morning. This decision comes after she won the 100 back final on Saturday, out-touching Olivia Smoliga by less than .20. Smith is entered in no other events tonight. Likewise, on the men’s side, Will Grant of Veritas scratched the 200 back final after decisively winning the prelims heat by a second and a half. The USC Trojans got a little stronger this week with a huge verbal from Canadian national junior team member Hanna Henderson , who announced she will join the team this coming school year. Henderson is a talented sprinter from Ontario, who swam at the World Junior Championships and won three bronze medals on relays. She swam butterfly on Canada’s medley relay, splitting a 59.16, and also anchored the mixed free relay with a 54.42. Henderson also swam on the prelims relay for the 4×200 freestyle team. In light of the Olympic postponement, United States National Team member Erica Sullivan is waiting to see who USC will hire to replace outgoing head coach Dave Salo before confirming she will enroll next fall. Sullivan graduated high school in 2018 and committed to USC, deferring her enrollment a year to focus on training for Tokyo.
